Total Wootage! One year Anniversary!

Hey everyone.. and Happy Late McInDAY!

Just would like to say a few words about this year in summary..

Its been a wonderful first year in the McInTEC community. Both its ups and downs. I had come into the McInTEC community way back around 1-2 months after the official launch. I had won a webcam through one of Chris Pirillo's/UStream webcam giveaways. When I had won this webcam, I was curious to find out just what kind of webcam they were giving away, so I went out on a search to find out previous winners and came across something saying that Jason had won a webcam from Chris Pirillo as well. I had found his home irc channel on Wyldryde and private msg'd him to ask what he had.. I also found his ustream channel and had started watching it mainly to listen to his awesome music he was playing. I enjoyed listening/watching his talks with Akafurious, CB14, Snakeyes and the others. I didn't do much at first and it took me a few months until actually started contributing to the community. It was like.. ok everyone else is doing videos and such, taking part in the podcasts. I'm a shy person, and really didn't want to take part in that kind of thing.

Around feb or march of 2007, Jason and I had a conversation about how he would like to have his web page and I had already begun playing around with ustream and created my own little application to watch favorite streams. It basically did a screen scrape of the ustream page that listed all the live streams. I bet the ustream people weren't too happy. LOL. Back then there were only like 300-400 live streams at any one time. So I guess it wasn't that bad. It would notify me of when streams would become available/live and pull up a video window automatically. Quite interesting. So yeah, Jason had mentioned that he wanted to have a live page with multiple streams and be able to switch them to other streams. This was an exciting idea and this is were I started to learn PHP more and more. That night I had created something and was really excited. It worked kinda and I couldn't wait until Jason would get back home from work. He got home and the look on his face and his reaction was like seeing a kid at Christmas! LOL..

It wasn't a complete system and of course with anything new, it had its quirks and bugs. From there, Aeiz had taken a look at it and was impressed. He had tweaked it somewhat and made it work even better. His way of doing things at first was really confusing but it worked! Took me some time to figure out it. His magic with javascript and object oriented stuff was cool. I learned a lot from his coding style and such. I really enjoy talking with Aeiz with this ustream switching stuffs and the ustream API. Aeiz had wonderfully/graciously donated his server space for us to use. So we moved our website from a home server to his professionally hosted server. Woot! Thank you soo much Aeiz for your contribution! To this day Aeiz continues to provide us with server space for our website and what not. TY TY TY Aeiz!

Aside from the live page, and the switching.. there are the people that make the McInTEC community. There is/was back then, from what I can remember (Yes, I have a bad memory, so if I forget some people, sorry! :( ) Of course there is Jason, the owner and founder of McInTEC. There was also CB14 which at the time was President, AKAFurious, Snakeyes, Lumpy, klinux, aeiz. Snakeyes and I had worked on some mIRC scripting and such. The talks with Lumpy, akafurious, cb14 and others were great too! klinux/flyingfox/batty had proven himself a really smart guy. Knows a lot about dos and linux stuffs and electronic blinky stuffs. There is SamF, Andrew12,Snakeyes who are good with mirc scripting and such. We all worked together to create some useful mirc scripts.

With all things, there are bound to be bumps in the road. Things happened, and people left. Other people came in.. people who had left, like CB14 and Snakeyes had left the community for a while along with a few others.. They still hung around, but not as much as they used to.

Then because of some things happening with WR, we had decided to switch over to a new network called AceIRC. Things were looking up and stayed there for a few months or so. As things went on, conflicts arose and we decided to leave yet another network because of how things were being handled with AceIRC. Eventually we decided to create our own network to better suit us. So we left AceIRC and created one called McInTEC-IRC. There, we can do what ever we want and not have to answer to anyone else or be used/abused with oper commands. Silly "traditions" and such. Woot our own place to call home!

Some of the other people who have contributed to the McInTEC community.. Lets see.. There is of course our current president Jazzguru. He is an interesting fellow for sure. Loves to talk and is quite knowledgable with all kinds of things. Definately has an art for words and how to explain things. Love his voice. He would do great as a radio host.

Our Junior President WSH5/Will. A little shy but once ya get to know him he's great. Has some good ideas and such.

TXBrad, is our resident "break your back" kinda guy. One of our irc admins. He has donated an irc server for our new network. Does a great job at keeping the peace and such with everything it too. UMPC/Justin also donated an irc server for us to use in our network. A really good irc admin and knows his stuff both with irc admin stuffs and mIRC scripting! Srwafu also donated a server for us to use.. Wonderful guy!

TJ, JENN help out with our irc channel.. Both great people to get to know. Always likes to keep our community together and are always trying to keep people happy/mediate when things arise.

H_M is another wonderfully skilled mIRC scripter! Also helps with the channel and network stuffs.

With all these people and others I cannot really remember atm (sorry guys!) we have truely become a great community. A group of friends.. and some would consider us a "family" of some sorts. I think of us this way as well. Its us as a whole who help make what the McInTEC community what it is today. Both thru the bad and good. Its what makes the bond between us stronger as time passes.

I am honoured to be a part of this community and look forward to another most excellent year. We continously improve and add to our services to provide a wonder experience with everyone. Hope this next year will be just as great as the first or better!

For this one year anniversary, Jason had taken his time and created a wonderful video in tribute to this McInDay! Most excellent work with this Jason! This can be found at McInTEC Tribute. Thank you Jason for this video and time spent! Its brought a tear to my eye. Just goes to show he really does care about us! {{ Hugs Jason }}
